Description
A quasi-experiential approach to teaching Social Welfare Policy challenges blame-the-victim attitudes of social work students and promotes empathy for the poor. The students assume the role of welfare recipient, and professors assume the roles of caseworker, sanctions monitor, and social worker. Evaluation is provided through end-of-semester, student debriefing papers.
