Description
The virtual explosion in modern medical technology has had the effect of increasing human life expectancy in the United States by thirty years since the beginning of the century and
continues to rise. While this is generally regarded as a desirable outcome, one should not overlook the fact that our ability to successfully treat the various disorders of the ageing body has not risen commensurately. A prime example is ocular disease, namely age-related macular degeneration (ARMD), which will be the focus of this paper. |
