Description
Many children develop an eye condition called amblyopia or more commonly referred to as a lazy eye. With an eye turn, double vision becomes a significant side effect that leaves patients frustrated with their vision. Several techniques have been developed over time that can improve the amblyopic eye or get rid of the condition entirely. Using patches over the unaffected eye has been at the forefront of treatment of amblyopis for many years along with the prescription of spectacle lenses. The use of atropine drops to occlude the unaffected eye has become more popular because of the aesthetic appeal for patients Evidence support that seeking any of the above forms of treatment before adolescence yields significantly greater results for correction than waiting until adulthood. This presentation will further illustrate the methods and levels of effectiveness for vision therapy options regarding amblyopia.
