Lean is a method that is used to decrease waste, eliminate errors, and improve efficiency within an organization. This method was first applied in the manufacturing field and is now being utilized in many healthcare organizations and is displaying great benefits. With the healthcare field constantly changing and competition rising, it is vital for the organizations to work towards being the best that they can be. Lean is just the method that can help the healthcare organizations with the continuous improvement that is needed to remain competitive and provide high quality care for the patients. When presented with an improvement opportunity at Birkam Health Center, Lean was applied to help generate possible solutions to help with the excessive patient wait time. This project displays the Lean steps that were taken to come up with the 2 solutions that were proposed to the health facility.
