Stereopsis is one of the human visual system's most remarkable achievements : people can make accurate binocular depth judgements based on horizontal positional disparities as small as a few seconds of visual angle. Clearly, stereopsis qualifies as one of the most impressive of the so called hyperacui ties (Westheimer 1979) . But just how and to what degree do several different subjective or internal as well as objective or external variables influence an individual's experience of stereopsis?
