Description
Through four years of optometry school this examiner has frequently
heard the advantages of doing refractions with the patient viewing
binocularly rather than monocularly, and yet there has always been a
hesi.tation to perform refractions in this manner. In order to rectify
this situation and give binocular refraction a chance to gain entry into
this examiners routine optometric testing, a study was conducted to compare
a monocular to a binocular refractive technique and see if the
claims of the proponents of binocular testing are truly valid.
