Description
Social justice is something that concerns every social worker in the world. As social workers, we fight to create and maintain social justice. When I went on my study abroad to El Salvador, I saw many social injustices that I wanted to change. During the civil war, the Salvadoran government was extremely unjust to its populace. Innocent people were being killed every day and the United States was sending more funding to El Salvador during this time than any time before or after the war. As a small study abroad group we could not fix all the injustices that the Salvadorans faced, but we could show them that we care and try to help them to the best of our abilities. This experience greatly impacted my life and how I approach it. Social injustice should be experienced by everyone, not just the elites.
